Excel - When creating a formula, try clicking on the cells instead of typing cell addresses. Your formulas will be much more accurate the "first time."
Windows - Need a DOS window? Click the Start button, choose "Run," type CMD, and hit the ENTER key.
Internet Explorer - In the address bar, try entering a company name (with no spaces) and hitting CTRL-ENTER on your keyboard. This combination adds "http://www." and ".com" to the name, saving you quite a few keystrokes.
QuickBooks - When entering your Vendors into QuickBooks do not use the Account # Field. Instead , drop down a line or two in the address field and type your account # there. This way your account # always prints on the check but leaves your Memo field to document what you purchased or a Memo you may want to list.

Helpful Computer Tips for your Friends
We all do dumb things now and then, and computer users are no exception. Inadvertently pressing the wrong key combination or innocently clicking OK in the wrong dialog box can change important settings that alter a computers behavior or even crash the system.
Many new users are often fearful that one wrong move might break the computer forever. Luckily, short of taking a sledge hammer to the box, the consequences are not usually quite that dire. Even so, users often do create problems for their computers. Here is a description of common missteps you can share with your users and friends to help them steer clear of preventable problems: Remember these are DO NOTS.
#1: Plug into the wall without surge protection #2: Surf the Internet without a firewall #3: Neglect to run or update antivirus and anti-spyware programs #4: Install and uninstall lots of programs, especially betas #5: Ignore the need for a backup and recovery plan #6: Open all attachments #7: Click on everything #8: Share and share alike #9: Pick the wrong passwords #10: Keep disks full and fragmented

Sure, cruising in a few minutes late on a Monday might be the office norm. But ask Finance Staffers what the holdup was, and you might get more than you bargained for.
The latest survey from CareerBuilder says more than one-in-ten workers (13%) admit to arriving late to work at least once a week. Another 24% say they are late at least once a month.
Most admit to the more common causes:
- 10% said getting children ready for school or day care slowed them down
- 27% blame traffic or the weather, and
- 11% said they just fell asleep again (kudos to the honest)
But the real kicker is 20% of employees admit to making up fake excuses to explain their tardiness. How fake? Here is the list of the top ten most unusual excuses for tardiness:
- I had to take my cat to the dentist.

- I could not find the right tie, so I had to wait for stores to open so I could buy one.
- I saw that you were not in the office, so I went looking for you.
- My son/daughter tried to flush our ferret/lizard/cockatoo down the toilet, and I needed to tend to the animal.
- I dreamed that I was fired, so I did not want to get out of bed.
- I stopped for a bagel sandwich, the store was robbed and the police kept everyone there for questioning.
- I ran over a goat.
- A bee flew in my car and attacked me, so I had to pull over.
- I made it all the way to the office before I realized I was still in my pajamas.
- I wet my pants and went home to change.
