    Computer Tips & Tricks

Windows - Is the time on your PC incorrect?  Simply double-click on the time displayed down on the task bar to the right side.  You can adjust the date and time to your hearts content.  You can even change your time zone.

Internet - Ever wonder how Web Pages were built?  In Internet Explorer, pull down the View menu and then click Source.  You can also click the page button and choose View Source. What you will see is the raw code used to create the web page you are viewing.

Word - Want to track some information about a document?  Pull down the File menu and choose Properties.  You will be able to see a lot of information and look at the statistics.

Excel - Make a mistake?  Just hit Ctrl-Z.  It is the keyboard equivalent of Undo. Continue using it to undo multiple actions.  It also works in most Microsoft Office programs as well as QuickBooks.

Employee Motivation

No matter the size of your company, having a team of motivated, hard-working employees is crucial to your business success. When people lose their motivation, however, their job performance suffers; they become less productive, less creative, less of an asset to the company.

The bottom line: You pay a heavy price when employees have low moral and motivation issues.
How then, do you light a fire under an employee who has lost his or her motivation; whether it be a former hard worker whose performance has declined over the years, or a long-term problem employee who has failed to improve?

Here are 10 pointers for getting your employees enthused, productive, and ready to give their all:

1.  Build a foundation
2.  Create a positive environment
3.  Help people get on the right path
4.  Educate the masses
5.  Do not forget the fun
6.  Acknowledge contributions
7.  Provide incentives
8.  Honor your promises
9.  Provide career coaching
10. Match tasks to talents

People often say that motivation does not last. Well, neither does bathing, that is why we recommend it daily.  Zig Ziglar

The key to successful leadership today is influence, not authority.
Ken Blanchard

If your actions inspire others to dream more, learn more, do more and become more, you are a leader.
John Q. Adams

The world is full of willing people, some willing to work, the rest willing to let them.
Robert Frost

Motivation is the art of getting people to do what you want them to do because they want to do it.  Dwight D. Eisenhower

Give your staff the authority that goes along with their job responsibilities, then sit back and watch them shine.  Janet Stiffler

To Flash or Not to Flash - Adobe Flash that is

Flash has become a popular method for adding animation and interactivity to web pages, and is commonly used to create animation, advertisements, and various web page components, to integrate video into web pages, and more recently to develop rich Internet applications.

Flash can manipulate vector and raster graphics and supports bi-directional streaming of audio and video. Several software products, systems, and devices are able to create or display Flash content, including Adobe Flash Player, which is available for most common web browsers, some mobile phones and other electronic devices (using Flash Lite). The Adobe Flash Professional multimedia authoring program is used to create content for the Adobe Engagement Platform, such as web applications, games and movies, and content for mobile phones and other embedded devices.

Flash remains the champ of professional vector software for the Web. However, creating Web pages, interactive games, and videos in Flash CS3 is no one-two punch; the complexity remains a barrier for new learners.

Most notable in this version of Flash is its improved integration with the other Adobe products. You can now save time by importing layers from Photoshop and Illustrator files, so there is no need to convert and name one layer at a time. The customizable interface lets you choose where to dock the time line and other panels, and you can drag features to the toolbar.

Pre-built components such as buttons can be dragged directly onto the stage, then customized. If you are drawing from scratch, Flash adds tools that include an Illustrator-style Pen as well as Shape Primitives for making shape alterations on the stage. New filters and blends add more creative optio
